Introduction of Sapphire Wafers:

 

   Sapphire wafers (single-crystal Al₂O₃) possess excellent thermal properties, outstanding electrical and dielectric characteristics, as well as strong resistance to chemical corrosion. They can withstand high temperatures, exhibit good thermal conductivity, high hardness, infrared transparency, and superior chemical stability. Sapphire substrates offer advantages such as low lattice mismatch and excellent physicochemical stability, making them commonly used for the growth of III-V nitride, superconductor, and magnetic epitaxial thin films. They are widely employed as high-temperature infrared window materials and substrates for III-V nitrides and various epitaxial thin films. To meet the growing demand for blue, violet, and white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and blue laser diodes (LDs), sapphire wafers can not only be used to fabricate high-temperature superconducting thin films such as Y-based and La-based materials but also serve as substrates for growing novel and practical MgB₂ (magnesium diboride) superconducting thin films—whereas conventional single-crystal substrates are often susceptible to chemical corrosion during the MgB₂ film fabrication process.
